BES-HNS Foundation Gathers for 2025 AGMM: A Celebration of Progress, Purpose, and People

Bacolor, Pampanga – April 26, 2025 — The BES-HNS Foundation, Inc. (BHFI) held its 2025 Annual General Membership Meeting (AGMM) at the Jardin Solana in Bacolor, Pampanga. Members gathered for an afternoon of reporting, reflection, and reaffirmation of their shared mission in upholding the BES-HNS legacy of excellence and service.

The meeting was formally opened by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, who welcomed attendees and called the session to order. Brod Kent Vasquez led the prayer, after which Corporate Secretary Sis Pauline Dacir confirmed the proper notice of the meeting and the presence of a quorum.

Following the approval of the minutes of the 2024 AGMM, the assembly heard key officer reports. Brod Bert Tagayuna opened the session with the President’s Report, followed by updates from Brod Gil Palad, Membership Committee Chair, and Sis Carol Thompson, Vice President for Finance and Treasury.

President’s Message: Celebrating Milestones and Envisioning the Future

A centerpiece of the meeting was the 2025 President’s Report, which highlighted the Foundation’s milestones from May 2024 to April 2025. The President, Brod Lamberto Tagayuna, expressed gratitude for the continued support and unity of members, noting that the Foundation had reached nearly a decade of service and transformation since its founding in 2015.

In his address, he emphasized the successful leadership transition to junior members, the rise of young leaders such as Brod Kent Vasquez and Sis Pauline Dacir to the Board of Trustees, and the broader vision of a future Board dominated by dynamic, service-driven junior alumni.

The message also celebrated notable achievements:

  • 858 junior members as of year-end 2024
  • 295 Latin honors graduates
  • 287 CPALE passers, including 19 national topnotchers
  • Strong showing in the December and May 2024 CPALE exams, where the Foundation’s pass rates consistently exceeded national averages

“Let us rise as future-ready professionals—technologically adept, ethically grounded, and driven to create meaningful impact,” the President encouraged, urging scholars and alumni alike to embrace the tools of the digital era with heart and purpose.

Financially, the Foundation remains stable despite a 29% drop in fund balance in 2024. The President attributed this to strategic disbursements toward scholarship, leadership, and charitable programs.

Gratitude was expressed to all benefactors, especially Brod Primo and Sis Lisa Valerio, Brod Wilfredo Villar, and Megaworld Foundation, for their generous and consistent support.

Looking ahead, the Foundation will focus on a smooth leadership transition, strengthened scholarship initiatives, expansive corporate partnerships, and full accreditation with the DSWD and PCNC. Planning has also begun for the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the Beta Epsilon Sigma and Hiyas ng Silangan in January 2026.

Showcase of Achievements from Honor Societies

Before lunch, the Grand Lord/Lady Chancellors (GLCs) of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), University of the East (UE) Manila, and UE Caloocan delivered their campus reports, showcasing the year’s accomplishments of the BES and HNS Honor Societies. Highlights included academic competitions, leadership training, community outreach projects, and faith-based initiatives—all aligned with BHFI’s mission of uplifting lives through scholarship and service.

These reports reflected the continued excellence and active engagement of junior members who, in the President’s words, “are not merely beneficiaries—but future stewards of our mission.”

Unity Through Fellowship

Following the morning’s business and presentations, members were treated to a sumptuous Filipino lunch featuring Kapampangan specialty dishes and a well-loved halo-halo. The festive meal and venue were generously sponsored by Brod Primo and Sis Lisa Valerio, whose enduring support continues to sustain the Foundation’s fellowship and leadership transition efforts.

Election of Trustees Welcomes New Faces to the Board

One of the focal points of the meeting was the election of new members to the Board of Trustees. Election Committee Chair Sis Chelsy Santos presented the official guidelines before overseeing nominations and voting.

The body also expressed heartfelt thanks to outgoing trustees Sis Carol Thompson and Brod Gil Palad for their years of dedicated service.

Building Bonds: BES-HNS Foundation Hosts Transformative Retreat for Young Professionals

The BES-HNS Foundation, Inc. recently hosted a transformative teambuilding and fellowship event for its young professional members at the tranquil Baan Thai Villa in San Fernando, Pampanga. Sponsored by the generous support of Sis Lisa and Primo Valerio, this overnight retreat, held from April 27 to April 28, 2024, aimed to deepen bonds among young professionals while reinforcing the foundation’s vision of fostering excellence and meaningful relationships.

Under the leadership of Sis Tess Andres from the Scholarship and Transition Committee, the event unfolded with a series of engaging activities designed to encourage collaboration, reflection, and personal growth.

The retreat commenced with a warm welcome and check-in, followed by a brief snack to energize participants for the exciting activities ahead. Attendees were divided into teams for the first activity, where they demonstrated teamwork and strategy by protecting a chosen member from getting wet while the other team poured water. This challenge highlighted the importance of solidarity and mutual support in achieving common goals.

Reflective sessions followed each activity, providing an opportunity for participants to share insights and lessons learned. One key takeaway emphasized the significance of stepping up and supporting each other, especially during challenging times—a principle that resonates deeply with the foundation’s ethos of camaraderie and service.

The second activity, a coin dive in the pool, tested participants’ resourcefulness and adaptability. As teams dove to collect coins of varying denominations, they discovered the importance of leveraging individual strengths to achieve collective success. This metaphorical exploration of diversity and teamwork underscored the foundation’s commitment to recognizing and maximizing the potential of each member.

A highlight of the retreat was the open forum and roundtable discussion, where members shared ideas, aspirations, and challenges facing the foundation. Notable insights included the importance of defining clear roles and responsibilities, optimizing communication channels, and bridging the gap between young professionals and undergraduate members.

Throughout the retreat, participants also enjoyed moments of relaxation and camaraderie, bonding over karaoke sessions, light exercises, and shared meals. These informal interactions fostered deeper connections and laid the groundwork for future collaboration and support within the foundation.

As the retreat drew to a close, participants left with renewed energy, strengthened friendships, and a shared commitment to the foundation’s mission. With a clear sense of purpose and unity, they departed Baan Thai Villa, carrying forward the spirit of camaraderie and growth instilled during this enriching experience.

BES-HNS Foundation Successfully Held 2024 Annual General Members’ Meeting

The BES-HNS Foundation, Inc. convened its Annual General Members’ Meeting on April 27, 2024, at the Jardin Solana Events Place in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga. Under the guidance of Chairman and President Brod Lamberto Tagayuna, the event witnessed active participation from members both present and represented by proxy.

The gathering commenced with a solemn invocation led by Brod Kent Vasquez, setting the tone for a day of reflection and progress. Ensuring procedural integrity, the Corporate Secretary, Sis Pauline Dacir confirmed the service of notice and the establishment of a quorum, ensuring robust representation with 87% of members in good standing in attendance.

The heart of the event resided in the delivery of the President’s Message by Brod Lamberto Tagayuna. In his impassioned address, he expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of members and highlighted the invaluable contributions of various stakeholders to the Foundation’s success. Particularly noteworthy were the generous contributions of Brod Primo and Sis Lisa Valero, whose dedication and financial support continue to propel the Foundation’s initiatives forward.

The Treasurer’s Report, presented by the Executive Director, Brod Mario Quinsaat on behalf of the Treasurer, Sis Carol Thompson, underscored the importance of driving donations to sustain the Foundation’s scholarship activities. With a focus on financial sustainability, members were urged to mobilize resources to support the academic aspirations of deserving students.

This was followed by the ratification of the acts of the Board of Trustees which finalized the resolutions and contracts vital to the Foundation’s operations.

Amidst procedural matters and financial discussions, the meeting celebrated the achievements of the BES-HNS Honor Societies across various campuses. Leaders of the Beta Espsilon Sigma and Hiyas ng Silangan Societies in University of the East – Manila, University of the East – Caloocan, and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines showcased an array of accomplishments, emphasizing the impact of community engagement and academic excellence.

Awarding of BHFI Scholarship Grants & Launch of the BHFI- MFI Scholarship Program at PUP – Manila

The Tradition of Glory and Excellence of BHFI and Honors Societies keeps shining at PUP campus yesterday, Tuesday July 18, 2023.

The very joyful, successful, and lasting joint events, the PUP Awarding of BHFI Scholarship Grants & Launch of the BHFI- MFI Scholarship Program is another great achievement and milestone of BHFI and Honors Societies.

We recognized and awarded 60 top and crème of the crop excellent and outstanding BHFI junior associate member undergraduate scholars.

For College of Accountancy and Finance(40) , 10 Megaworld Foundation, Inc Scholars and 30 BHFI Scholars.

For the College of Engineering and Architecture (20), 10 Megaworld Foundation Inc. scholars and 10 BHFI Inc. Scholars.

BES-HNS Empowers Education with BHFI Scholarship Grants and Unveils the BHFI-MFI Scholarship Program at UE – Manila

In a momentous event held at the UE Briefing Room, the renowned foundation celebrated a significant milestone through the awarding of BHFI scholarship grants to exceptional students, alongside the highly anticipated launch of the BHFI-MFI Scholarship Program. With a firm commitment to promoting education and empowering aspiring scholars, BES-HNS showcased its dedication to supporting educational opportunities and creating a brighter future for the young minds through these initiatives last May 31, 2023.

The atmosphere at the UE Briefing Room was electric as the ceremony commenced, with esteemed guests, educators, students, and members of the BES-HNS Foundation Inc. and Megaworld Foundation Inc. gathering in anticipation.

With an air of excitement, the room buzzed as Atty. Nida Lucenario, the HNS Adviser of BES-HNS, stepped onto the stage to deliver her address, capturing the full attention of the audience.

In line with this, her welcome remarks underscored the foundation’s unwavering dedication to promoting education and providing exceptional students with the resources and opportunities needed to achieve their academic dreams.

The highlight of the event was the announcement of the BHFI scholarship grants. These grants serve as incentives for high-achieving students, aiming to motivate them to persist in their diligent efforts. Each semester, the BES-HNS Foundation awards prizes to the top twenty (20) members of the Beta Epsilon Sigma and Hiyas ng Silangan Honors Societies at the University of East – Manila, the University of East – Caloocan, and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Manila.

In addition to the scholarship grants, the event also celebrated the launch of the BHFI-MFI Scholarship Program. The foundation partnered up with the Megaworld Foundation Inc. which added ten (10) more recipients to the grant. Hence, to expand the reach and impact of the scholarship program, benefiting a greater number of deserving students.

As the event drew to a close, the atmosphere was filled with hope and inspiration. The launch of the BHFI-MFI Scholarship Program was met with resounding applause, as the audience recognized the far-reaching impact it would have on the lives of countless aspiring scholars. The scholarship recipients expressed their gratitude and shared their aspirations for the future. Prof. Claudio Agsi, the BES Adviser of BES-HNS, concluded the event by expressing his gratitude to BHFI & MFI, the scholarship recipients, and the dedicated officers at BES-HNS who worked tirelessly to make these initiatives a reality.

BHFI-YPs Bonded Towards Perpetuity

To strengthen their working relationship and discuss their roles in the Foundation’s transition and perpetuity plans, the young professionals of the BES-HNS Foundation Inc. (BHFI) Transition Team forged meaningful connections in a two-day teambuilding event at the Eulogio Lopez Center, Antipolo City, last May 27.

In her opening remarks, Sis Tess Andres mentioned that this initiative will be one of many that will be carried out to build a core group of young professionals that is committed to continuing the vision and mission of the foundation.

Brod Mar Quiansaat then refreshed the team on where they left off after the 2022 Strategic meeting in Orani, Bataan. As he ran through the activities that had been proposed by each committee, committee representatives relayed updates on their progress and changes to the original plans.

Brod Mar also shared with the team the most recent trustee discussions including the proposed changes in the Organizational Structure and developments on corporate partnerships and scholarship programs.

Thereafter, Sis Tess Andres introduced Coach Harvey Campos, a world-class certified executive meta-coach. He helps Executives and Leaders achieve their organizations’ Peak Performance by providing Mental Fitness, Meta-Coaching & Training Services.

Coach Harvey started the teambuilding by teaching everyone how to elev­­ate their breathing through a technique called Square Breathing. As they breathed, the group uttered the passage “Isaiah 40:31 – those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”

Coach Harvey grouped the young professionals into four teams by values to live by – Team 1: Commitment & Accountability; Team 2: Honesty & Transparency; Team 3: Excellence and Integrity; and Team 4: Empathy and Giving Back. The teams were to make a 10-second group cheer which they would sing whenever they complete an activity. The groups would receive points and be ranked at the end of the team-building session.

Coach Harvey discussed several topics – first was Positivity and how it brings healthy relationships, prevents fatigue, and enables a person to reach mindfulness and peak performance. The groups made meaningful answers to the question: What do you SEE, HEAR & FEEL when one is living up to the VALUES and positivity? The seniors also shared some key points on values that each team was assigned to.

The insightful coach also discussed different types of saboteurs and emphasized that our saboteur is not who we are. It is merely a tendency that has to be recognized so that one can positively and actively work on it. During lunch, each team had intimate discussions about their saboteurs and what among the five Sage Powers – Empathy, Explore, Innovate, Navigate, and Activate, they would like to improve on.

After the lunch break, Coach Harvey shared with the teams the Power of RUAH – Relationship Building, Understanding Differences, Activating Solutions, and Harnessing Energy. He demonstrated how YES-AND communication technique can pave the way for laser-focused innovative actions.

To apply everything that they learned, each team was then given old magazines, barbecue sticks, and masking tapes. Their task was, in 10 minutes, to BUILD THE LONGEST BRIDGE strong enough to hold a phone. When the time was up, the observer of each team shared the challenges and strategies of their own teams and also that of the others. The bridges were tested and finally, with the help of the seniors, Team 3: Excellence and Integrity and Team 4: Empathy and Giving Back were held as winners.

Coach Harvey then pointed out that the groups could have built a much longer bridge if they had joined together and built it as one team working on one common goal. He explained that to achieve a mission, we not only need to utilize resources or work only within the organization, but to also reach out beyond the organization.

With the teambuilding coming to an end, Coach Harvey made sure to elevate the feeling of positiveness of the participants through the 4As Exercise. The 4 As stands for Access, Amplify, Anchor, and Apply.

The teambuilding ended after several participants gave their key takeaways and the seniors delivered their closing remarks. Everyone thanked the wonderful Coach for a very fruitful and meaning teambuilding.

After a short break, the team reconvened, and all joined a game to refresh each other from the day’s events. The game consisted of the young professionals being divided into groups. Each team should recreate a situation by posing in different ways and explaining it to the judges. The best team is chosen by the Sis Tess and Sis Evie,

The second day started with an outdoor game beside the pool of the Eulogio Lopez Center. The young professionals were initially requested to bring a canister with water. This was used in the game, in which teams were formed to create comedic skits or statements to make the other teams laugh and spit out the water inside their mouth.

The young professionals joined again for an activity in which everyone was given a chance to reflect on their lives and their personalities. Speaking in front, the young professionals shared what is their status with their professional side, their families, personal lives, their dreams, and their habits. This was also the opportunity to share their whole reflection of the two-day event as well as which was their favorite part and the learnings they have acquired.

The two-day teambuilding event did not just become an avenue for the young brods and sis to know each other, but also share connections and forge relationships with one another as a team and as members of the foundation. They are reminded of their true purpose to the organization and to society. As the transition team who will be aiding in successfully transferring the leadership of the organization, the young professionals ensure that their dedication will truly be an avenue in effecting change and extending charity to the beneficiaries of the foundation.

With new bonds formed and connections established, the BES-HNS young professionals are now significantly closer to one another. The young professionals became more acquainted with the foundation’s values and discovered more about their personal roles within the organization. With this in mind, perpetuity is on the horizon.

BHFI Awarded Grants to UE Caloocan Scholars and Launched BHFI-Megaworld Scholarship

May 17, 2023 – BES-HNS Foundation Inc. (BHFI) and Megaworld Foundation Inc. (MFI) awarded cash incentives to the top thirty (30) Bachelor of Science in Accountancy students of University of the East – Caloocan.

Officers of the BES-HNS Foundation and representatives from the Megaworld Foundation personally awarded and congratulated the outstanding scholars. Chancellor Victor Macam, UE President Zosimo Battad, Dean Emeteria Dalisay, and professors and advisers of the students were also present.

During the event, the officers of BHFI and MFI launched the new BHFI-Megaworld Scholarship with increased cash incentives.

BES-HNS Foundation Inc, on their road towards perpetuity and sustainability

“Transitioning to the Youth towards Perpetuity and Sustainability” will be the Foundation’s theme from this year moving forward. Actions towards the achievement of this goal of Perpetuity and Sustainability were already taken. Beginning on the Pre-Planning and Team Building last July 30-31, 2022 at Tampay sa Sinagtala, Orani Bataan, the transitioning committee, composed of the Core Senior and Junior members, are continuously meeting, planning and strategizing about the Foundation’s future.

In line with this, a strategic meeting was held last October 15, 2022 at Jardin Solana Function Hall, Solana Casa Real, Bacolor, Pampanga through the sponsorship of Sis Lisa and Brod Primo Valerio. The meeting focused mostly on the Junior Members’ presentation of their deliberate plans and budgetary requirements for the proposed programs and activities this upcoming fiscal year. Some of the topics discussed are the initiative to conduct sustainable Corporate Social Responsibility projects, launch feasible Fundraising programs, and organize several Fellowship activities. The Junior Members’ plans, combined with the Senior Members’ experiences and expertise in handling the Foundation, gives the atmosphere of optimism regarding the Foundation’s succeeding years.

Brod Mars Morales also mentioned that by seeing the Juniors’ commitment and passion towards the foundation, it will not be impossible for the Senior Members to have a smooth transition of responsibilities and roles in the next three to five years.

After the formal meeting, the fellowship began. Both the junior and senior members talked, laughed, and bonded with each other during lunch. With different agenda, the senior and junior members parted ways after lunch. Naturally, the junior members did not miss the opportunity to travel and wander the beauty of Bacolor, Pampanga. They went to the historical San Guillermo Parish Church, known for its half-buried structure which is the result of the lahar mudflows during the 90s. The senior members, on the other hand, went to Randy Valerio’s Goat Dairy Farm where they were served with different food products with Goat’s milk as its main ingredient.

The day ended with everyone feeling hopeful and confident that the road towards perpetuity and sustainability is within the Foundation’s grasp. Certainly, the Senior members believe that the Juniors are capable of sustaining the Foundation’s legacy and the Juniors, at the same time, believe that what the Senior members have established are worthy of perpetual existence. As Theodore Roosevelt has said, “Believe you can, and you are halfway there”, indeed, the BES-HNS Foundation Inc. is already more than halfway towards its goal.

BHFI Celebrates Life’s Joy at Makati Sports Club

On September 28, 2022, through the initiative of Sis Lisa and Brod Primo Valerio, the Brods and Sis gathered at Makati Sports Club to celebrate the birthday of Sis Lisa Valerio and the birthday of September, October, and November celebrants. 

The party kicked off with an outstanding performance by the junior Brod and Sis from UE Caloocan, Samuel Pimping and Chelsy Santos. This is followed by an ice-breaker “Have You Ever…”, in which guests were asked to sit if they had done the actions described by the hosts Brod Chito Zoleta and Sis Chelsy Santos, and the last man standing wins the game. The ice-breaker made the guests laugh, and it is a fun game to look back on old times while getting to know each other better.

The Brods and Sis were then treated to a lavish dinner, and the September, October and November birthday celebrants were summoned to the stage to blow their candles as the audience sang them happy birthday. After the candles were blown, the seniors and juniors played BINGO. The cash prize of P1,000, for the first three juniors and first three seniors who will complete the entire card added to the excitement of the BINGO game. The game was a success, with everyone having a good time and getting pumped up for the rest of the event.            

The junior Brods and Sis showcased their talents by performing a song for Sis Lisa’s birthday to express their love and gratitude. After the performance, Sis Tess Andres then read the junior core group’s message to Sis Lisa Valerio. Following some photo opportunities, a dance party began. Both junior and senior members of the BES-HNS Foundation took advantage of the opportunity to dance at the dance floor and sing songs from the karaoke because no celebration would really be complete without some dancing and singing.  

Everyone left the party with bright smiles on their faces and new fond memories. Indeed, birthdays are meant to celebrate the joys of life.

BHFI expands to PUP College of Engineering

Last September 07, 2022, the BES-HNS Foundation Inc. went to Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) -Sta. Mesa, Manila to launch the foundation’s first-ever batch of Engineering students Scholars. The PUP College of Engineering BES-HNS Honors Society will initially have a total of 27 pioneer members composed of 9 academic scholars each from BS Civil Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering, and BS Electrical Engineering.  

The meeting was attended by the Foundation’s core members headed by the Chairman Emeritus Brod Mars Morales, Chairman Brod Philip Judan, and President and Vice Chairman Brod Lambert Tagayuna. PUP was represented by Professor Tomas Testor, PUP’s Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, and Dr. Remedios Ado, PUP College of Engineering’s Dean. To formally introduce the Foundation to the new members, Brod Mario Quinsaat, BHFI’s Executive Director, discussed the Foundation’s brief history of how they maintain their motto: Semper Premium, Always First by ensuring that every new member has the capacity to excel in their chosen fields, hence establishing Honors Societies in universities with great track records in the field of Accountancy, and now, in the field of Engineering as well. Brod Mario also discussed the assistance and scholarship grants being given by the Foundation to its scholars. He also mentioned that the Foundation’s support extends way beyond the financial needs of their members, encompassing other relevant works such as social and community programs, emotional and spiritual workshops and activities, and professional trainings and development programs. 

Brod Mark Alcazar and Sis Caila Austria, PUP BES-HNS Honors’ Society Presidents for Academic Years 2020-2022, then discussed the Honors Society’s achievements, projects and programs during their terms and shared how the Foundation has contributed to their personal and professional growths. After discussing the Foundation and the PUP BES-HNS Honors Society’s background, Brod Mars Morales then mentioned the Foundation’s future plans which involves several Corporate Partnerships that will be beneficial to their scholars. 

Following the Foundation’s discussion, lunch was served. It was made even more joyful by a raffle, sponsored by Brod Oscar Jornacion where 24 attendees were granted Php 1,000 each. The meeting ended with the new members expressing their gratitude and excitement towards being part of the BES-HNS Honors Society. The newly recruited scholar from College of Engineering, Sis Reianalaine Dublin, said “it was an honor and privilege to be part of this remarkable organization”.  

The Foundation and PUP will continue to work together to ensure that their partnerships will be productive and will contribute to the Foundation’s achievement of its motto. The date for the official launch of the Foundation’s scholarship program to the PUP College of Engineering is still yet to be announced. In the meantime, the already established PUP BES-HNS Honors Society in the College of Accountancy is welcoming and connecting with their new Brods and Sisters from the College of Engineering.
